Bellmore Boys Band
Bellmore Boys Band performed at various locations in the 1920s and 30s, including the town square located between Merrick Road and Sunrise Highway, as well as the Long Island Rail Road Bellmore Station. The band also performed for various parades in Freeport. The band was organized in 1923 by Raphael Seril. It became one of the best on Long Island by the late 1920s. Isadore Lewis later took over the band after Seril around 1929. One of the band members, Horatio Messina (aka "Ratso"), played the clarinet and was awarded the Toots Prize in 1929.
