Doctor John Lining   Who made the first systematic weather observations with instruments in America January 1738~February 1753   In this building which probably ante-dates the year 1715...... Dr. Lining lived made observations of the weather... and may have conduct-ed his apothecary shop. It is certain that it has been used for this last purpose since 1780....   Erected by the City of Charleston
