One of the two plaques on the main gate, or memorial archway. This one is on the left-hand side. It reads:- "City of Worcester. This park was opened on the 17th June 1922 by Field Marshall The Rt. Hon. the Earl of Ypres, P.C., K.P., G.C.B., O.M., G.C.V.O., K.C.M.G." and underneath:- "Ald. J.S. Cook, J.P. Chairman of General Purposes Committee. Samuel Southall Mayor." The Earl of Ypres was formerly Field Marshall Earl French. SO8456 : Gheluvelt Park - main gate, Barbourne Road, Worcester.
