Side A This is a re-creation of a mine shaft built in the early 1900s. It reportedly covered a 60-foot-deep test hole. Austin Millar commercially mined the property from 1914 to 1919, when a fire devistated his production facilities. Side B The date of this guardhouse construction is unknown. It was built before a 1919 fire that devastated the Millar property. Here, guards for Austin Millar's mining operation watched the gates day and night. Legend has it that one night a security guard was lured away by a "lady of ill repute." That night the Millar mine burned to the ground.
