Mob Trial And Execution (Chana, IL)

On a recent bicycle ride in the Illinois countryside, we came upon this plaque on the side of a country road. We were in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees, corn fields, and farms. For us, the plaque created more questions than it provided answers. For the rest of the ride we let our minds go wild inventing stories to go along with the plaque. It was only afterwards that we found the details of the story: http://www.lib.niu.edu/2001/ihy010236.html
