Muckle Roe: bridge plaques

These two stones stand at a lay-by alongside HU3465 : Muckle Roe: leaving the island by road. The nearer one states: MUCKLE ROE BRIDGE Widened and strengthened by Zetland County Council Opened on 22nd October 1947 by W. Thomson, Esq., Convener of Zetland The farther one refers to the present-day bridge: The New Muckle Roe Bridge Designed by Babtie Group Ltd. Constructed by Balfour Beatty Construction Ltd. for Shetland Islands Council 11th May 1998 to 16th January 1999 Opened by Cllr. Drew Ratter on 3rd April 1999
