Newington Volunteer Fire Department
Original Firehouse No. 1
1162 Main Street
This building was in danger of being torn down as
part of a town center redevelopment plan but was
saved by the voters of Newington through a town
wide referendum in November 1996. The old
firehouse was then restored to it original state for
public use through the dedicated efforts of the
following individuals. The building now stands as a
lasting tribute to all the brave men and women who
have served our community as volunteer firefighters
