Opening shopping street
This plaque commemorates the opening in November 1968 of the "Vriesestraat" in Dordrecht as a dedicated shopping street, no traffic allowed. A joint effort by city council and shop owners resulted in this move: a street closed off for traffic, so people can walk and shop safely. I noticed the plaque only because it was a quiet and rainy sunday morning. Submitted by: Danny Kalkhoven.
