A fourth generation Colliervillian who devoted his life to make his hometown a better place to live, Herman Wright Cox, Jr. is a person known for his love and compassion towards his fellow man, his love for God, family and country. A man who earned great respect in all walks of life for his honestly and leadership, he served on town board from 1959 to 1975 as Alderman, Vice Mayor. In 1975 he was elected Mayor and served in this position for 24 years, retiring in 1999
